Every February, the U.S. honors and celebrates the history, contributions, and sacrifices of Black Americans during Black History Month. Black History Month was created in 1926 by Black historian Carter G. Woodson and later formally recognized nationwide in 1976 by President Gerald R. Ford. Every year, the selects a theme for Black History Month. The theme for 2026 is A Century of Black History Commemorations.

The ÃÛÌÒAPP Student Development Office and Multicultural Center have a variety of events planned to engage students, faculty, staff, and the community during Black History Month. If you are able, please join us for one or more events. All are welcome.
